Positives and negatives from the GP of Trentino for SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery. In MX2 very good performance for Adamo, who was really close to the “top 10” Overall. In MXGP Forato tried hard but the pain in his wrist forced him to retire.
The GP of Trentino, 14th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, made its way to the racing weekend of Pietramurata circuit, a place that will host, in one week, three rounds in a row (including a GP that will be raced in a midweek version).
SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed Andrea Adamo #80 and Alberto Forato #303, who was bruised by a heavy crash that happened while he was training just before the Spanish round of last week.
The sun was shining above the track in this second to last Sunday of October when the MX2 and MXGP riders went in for Free and Timed Practices. In the quarter-of-liter class, Adamo finished 5th in Free Practice but 18th in the following session. In the Top Class Forato made it to the 28th and the 11th place respectively.
In MX2 Race 1 Andrea had a very good start, as the Sicilian positioned himself straight away in the “top 10”. He was in P7 after turn 1, and he passed by the finish line of lap 2 stable in 9th position. Andrea, for the whole first part of the race, was fighting to defend his position but during lap 10 he gave up two places and he moved to P11. From that moment, his pace allowed him to keep that position until the checkered flag, so he completed the 20 laps of the race in P11. In Race 2 Andrea did not repeat the good start of the previous race and after lap 1 he was out of the “top 10”. His performance, though, was consistent, and he was well partnered by a good grit that allowed him to move up a few places, until P11. When there were 2 laps to go, unfortunately, he gave up one position, so he finished in 12th place. The GP of Trentino, for him, finished with 11th place Overall. Andrea is still in 16th position in the General Classification.
In the “Top Class” Race 1, Alberto’s start was not the best one, and the end was even worse. He was at the margins of the “top 20” after lap 1, so he tried to gain a few places, but the pain at his wrist did not make it easy to ride smoothly and safely. The rider from Veneto, due to this situation, lowered his pace and moved back from the 20th place to the 29th, however, he did not last more than three other laps. During lap 7 the GasGas #303 made its way to the pit lane. Alberto, then, decided not to take part in Race 2 as his pain was still consistent. Despite the double zero of this unlucky day, he is still in 18th place in the General Classification.
The 15th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place on Wednesday the 27th of October. It will be named GP of Pietramurata and it will also host the 7th round of the EMX250 Championship, so Kevin Horgmo #24, who is fighting for the title, will be back racing too.
Andrea Adamo #80: “It was a good Sunday. We go back home with an 11th and a 12th place, P11 Overall with the same amount of points as the rider in P10. We can be satisfied. I’m already thinking about Wednesday when the next round will take place”.
