2021 FIM Motocross World Championship - RND #017, GP Of Lombardia, Mantova 1

Less a brilliant Saturday for Horgmo at the GP of Lombardia. The Norwegian struggled on the sand of the circuit and finished 6^th Overall. Positive race for Adamo, who entered in the “top 10” in Race 1 and finished just out of it in the Overall. Forato gained points in both races.

After three races in a row at the Pietramurata circuit, FIM Motocross World Championship moved to Lombardy for the final “rush” of the 2021 season. The first out of two appointments at Mantua circuit, the GP of Lombardia, was the 17^th round of the MXGP and the MX2 season and the 9^th round of the EMX250.

Kevin Horgmo #24 made the 3^rd fastest lap time of Free Practice on Saturday morning, under a shiny sun and on a perfect track surface. The rider of SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery then improved in Timed Practice as he finished in P2 of his group, which resulted in the 3^rd place to the starting gate at the race.



In Race 1 Horgmo did not have a perfect start; the Norwegian, in fact, passed by the finish line of lap 1 in 10^th place. As usual, Kevin started a furious comeback, and lap by lap he arrived at the margin of the “top 5”. During the second part of the race, though, Kevin was not able to be as punchy as in the first part, and he could not overtake easily, so he finished the race in P6. In Race 2 he had a better start, as his GasGas #24 was in 3^rd place after turn 1. After the chaotic first laps, which also included a few small mistakes made by Horgmo, he then was stable in P5 and kept it until the checkered flag. At the end of the day, Kevin was ranked 6^th Overall, and he kept 2^nd place in the General Classification of the Championship.



In the MX2 class, Sunday morning started with an excellent P3 in Free Practice for Andrea Adamo #80, but in the following Timed Practice, the Sicilian only made it to 13^th place. In Race 1 Andrea made a great start and after turn 1 he was just out of the “top 5”; he then moved to P7 until lap 12. During the remaining laps, Adamo gave up two places, so he finished the race in 9^th position. In Race 2 Andrea made a worse start, as he was at the margin of the “top 20”, and he was not able to gain a “top 10” result. He struggled during the first laps, but in the second part of the race, he found some good lines, made some overtakes, and finished in P14. At the end of the day, Adamo was just out of the “top 10” Overall as he finished in 11^th position, while he made up one place in the General Classification: he is now 14^th.



The second-to-last GP of the season opened with 25^th place in Free Practice for Alberto Forato #303 in the MXGP. He then improved in Timed Practice as he made it to P14. In Race 1 Alberto positioned 16^th straight away at the end of lap 1. In the following lap, the rider from Veneto made up one place and he administered that placement until the checkered flag, finishing in P15. Race 2 for Alberto was quite the same as the previous one. After the start, he was in P15, but then he lost and regained a few positions until the end of the race, which he finished in 19^th position. The GP of Lombardia finished in P17 Overall for him, while he gained two places in the General Classification and he is now 17^th.

The GP of the City of Mantua, which will take place on the 9^th and the 10^th of November, will be the last round of the FIM Motocross World Championship and of the EMX250 Championship 2021 season.

Kevin Horgmo #24: “I finished 6^th Overall here at the first of two races at Mantua, Italy. I really struggled for the whole day and I hope that on Tuesday I will have a better day. It will be the last race of the season, so I hope I will finish in the best possible way!”.

Andrea Adamo # 80: "It was a 50% positive day, we can say. After a good first heat, in race 2 I got a bad start and a series of contacts at the first corner put me back among the last positions and it was not easy to recover. I will try to do two good heats on Wednesday. "
