SM ACTION, IN SWITZERLAND FORATO IS THE BEST AMONG THE ITALIANS IN THE MXGP 2023 

FRAUENFELD (CH) - Another satisfaction for the team from Modena.  

The Swiss town of Frauenfeld has been hosting World Championship races over the Easter weekend for over sixty years, setting up an ad hoc track for the event, and in the races held on Saturday and Monday it saw a large turnout of the public.

At the third stage of the MXGP world championship, the SM ACTION team lines up Alberto Forato at the start of the MXGP, while Lorenzo Ciabatti and Cornelius Tondel defend the team colors in MX2.

Starting from Saturday's qualifying, Tondel was involved in a crash during the start of the RAM qualifying race, despite which he made a decent comeback: in fact, we find him in fifteenth position at the checkered flag. Lots of bad luck for Lorenzo Ciabatti who, after a good start, was forced to retire after a technical issue. 

In the MXGP Forato shows off immediately, and gets the third fastest time of the MXGP. In the qualifying race, after a good start, we find him at the checkered flag in fourth position, followed by Maxime Renaux and the home racer Jeremy Seewer.

On Monday, in the first moto Alberto is tenth at the first corner, but during the first lap of race one he runs into a crash that involves several riders. After restarting from the rear, he improves his position lap after lap making an excellent comeback, and at the checkered flag he is in twelfth place.

In moto two, after a good start in seventh position, he passes the HRC driver Ruben Fernandez, and for the whole race he managed the advantage on Vlaanderen, finishing in sixth position. 

The sum of the two results returns Alberto in eighth position overall, once again first among the Italians in the MXGP premier class.

In MX2 Tondel continues to struggle due to the rib problem after the crash in Argentina. 

In the first moto, after a start in fifteenth position, he kept his laps constant, but was forced to give up some positions in the final stages of the race, finishing in eighteenth place. 

He manages to improve slightly in moto two, finishing in seventeenth position, the same position as in the classification of the day. 

Lorenzo Ciabatti after retiring in the qualifying race was forced to start from an unfavorable position at the gate, and after a start from the rear he made a decent comeback and finished moto one in twenty-first position.

In moto two he gets a slightly better start, and after a constant race we find him at the checkered flag in twentieth position. The sum of these two results returns the Tuscan rider in twentieth position, in his first year in the MX2 category. 

We will meet the whole team next weekend at the fourth round of the world championship in Italy, in Arco di Trento.
