The third consecutive podium at the 7th round of the EMX250 Championship confirmed the excellent condition of Fredriksen. In MX2, once again an unlucky weekend for Maxime Renaux, while in MXGP Jacobi made two solid races in which he scored points.
The GP of Europe, which took place in the first weekend of October, ended the week of the three-in-a-row races at “Tazio Nuvolari” circuit in Mantua, was the 11th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
In the EMX250 Championship, at its 7th round of the season, the Norwegian Hakon Fredriksen #427 from Team SM Action Yamaha was once again a protagonist, as he made two good races at the circuit of Mantua which allowed him to jump onto the podium at the end of the day.
In the morning the conditions of the track’s surface were quite muddy, as in the previous days there was a lot of rain, but Hakon was not worried at all and he made the fastest lap of Free Practice. He then classified in 2nd position in Timed Practice but he was only a tenth of a second away from the rider in Pole Position.
The Norwegian though was not able to make good starts in both races, and considering that the layout of the circuit did not encourage overtakes, it was hard for him to recover. In Race 1, from the 6th place of lap 1, he moved up to the 2nd but a little mistake moved him back to 3rd. In Race 2 Fredriksen was even further back after the start (10th place) and he could not make it better than the 5th final position. However, he finished 3rd Overall and he gained another important podium place. In the General Classification, he confirmed the 4th place and he closed a little bit more the gap from the rider in 3rd, who is now only 10 points away from him.
In the MX2, bad luck did not abandon the French Maxime Renaux #959. After that he made the fastest lap in Free Practice, Maxime could not confirm that lap time and he finished 10th in Timed Practice. At Race 1 start Maxime made it good out of the starting gate and he gained the 4th place. He then tried to overtake the next opponent straight away but he made a mistake while braking, he touched the rider and he crashed quite hard. He damaged his Yamaha and he was forced to go to the box. When he went back on track he was in the back of the group and even though he tried to recover, he could not enter the points area and he finished in 24th position. In Race 2 Maxime started just out of the “top 10”. After that he stayed in 10th position for a lot of time, he managed to gain the 9th place during the last laps. At the end of the day, he was ranked 14th Overall while he moved back one position in the General Classification as he is now 4th.
In the MXGP the German Henry Jacobi #29 continued to make good performances. After that he made the 7th fastest lap time in Free Practice and the 14th in Timed Practice, Race 1 for him was all about recovering. From the 18th place, Henry was able to move up to the 13th and he gained important points for the General Classification. In Race 2 the German’s start was definitely better and he gained the 11th place straight away; Henry kept it until the last lap, when he was overtaken, so he finished 12th. In the Overall, he was ranked 13th while in the General Classification he confirmed his 15th position.
The 12th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship will take place on the 10th and the 11th of October in Spain, at Intu Xanadù-Arroyomolino circuit. At the GP of Spain will also participate the EMX250 Championship for the 8th round of the season.
